Donation 60,000 baht for the School for the Blind

The Northern School for the Blind warmly welcomed Princess Maja von Hohenzollern to the their premises on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 to enjoy student performances, meet students and offer toys to the school and to join with Thailandfreunde members in donating 60,000 baht for the school.

The Northern School for the Blind was established in 1960 and has been under the Royal Patronage of HRH Queen Sirikit since 1964. The school became government owned under the Ministry of Education in 1980 and was allowed to extend education to the secondary level. It emphasizes vocational training and normal curriculum. There are 213 students from Kindergarten through to high school, many attending outside schools in an integrated environment, 29 teachers and 51 other staff.

Thailandfreunde has been active in supporting the school and helping with new construction to accommodate their growing needs and will hold a gala fundraiser at the Mercure Hotel on March 25, 2011. Air Berlin offered their generous support for the organization’s fundraising activities.
