After celebrating their 5 years anniversary on the 25th of September 2010 (where 500,000 THB were raised for social circumstances), the social, bilateral, cultural and human rights organization Thailandfreunde e.V. (alias Phuenthai German International Organization) with offices in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, Thailand, gave the first parts of the raised funds to several projects.

Time to give a small overview and update.

Thai TV Channel 7 coordinated the help from the TV station in the capital Bangkok and a small group of TF 5 activists (Anirut Hanchumset, Peer Kretzschmar with his wife Panadda, Dr. Dirk Weeber-Arayatumsopon and Wuttipong Arayatumsopon) met with channel representatives and actors from Thailand to help. The money was used to buy food and water and first aid medication especially for children and elderly who lost everything through the natural disaster this year.

The choir of the school sang “We wish you a merry Christmas” and also the song “Que sera sera, whatever will be” in English language. Janet Henry and Rudolf Langenhorst both Thailandfreunde board members had been seen wiping tears out of their eyes. The student choir later sang a song in Thai especially composed for the Thailandfreunde organization - for their great help and support in the last two years. In total the school received 600,000 THB in money donations and another 150,000 THB in clothes, goods and hygiene equipment.

Further the organization advertised the school a lot and through that the school could raise much more funds. With the help of the Thailandfreunde organization a new building could be finished which will be gracefully opened by crown princess Her Royal Highness Maha Chakri Sirindhorn within the next 3 month. Also kitchen, dining hall, sports center, therapeutic play equipment, students equipment and room furnish had been purchased of the international group.

Dr. Dirk Weeber Arayatumsopon, current chair man of the German and international part of the organization could only attend the donation celebrations in a wheelchair. He never really recovered from an accident at Suvarnabhumi Airport Bangkok in May 2010.

Behind the scene he got the surprising information that he will be awarded December 22 this year of the "HRH Princess Galayani Foundation" for his social work for handicapped people and children in Thailand and this as being handicapped himself. "Even this is a great honor, I won’t be able to take the award personally, due to health treatments abroad the country", he told in a short statement.

Even this was the biggest amount of the raised funds donated this year it is not everything.

10,000 THB had been given to Chiang Mai residents living in underprivileged city areas (Slums) to protect especially children and elderly from the winter with warm carpets and clothes, the 9th of December, another 10,000 THB will be given to underprivileged children in Mae Taeng area for the same purpose, december 15th.

More money will be given to smaller projects in Chiang Mai and Lamphun within the next 6 weeks. Further planned are health supports for the Princess Chulabhorn children cancer foundation in Bangkok.

The organization celebrates it’s Christmas party this year in the French Restaurant Auberge Chiang Mai the 15th of December after the donation to the people in need in Mae Taeng.

These are the last activities for the year before in January and February a lot of work has to be done again.
